Stifford Youth Empowerment Programme
(Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund)
This project provides local young people with opportunities to engage in positive activities and become actively involved in their community. It aims to address the root causes of anti-social behaviour while creating new pathways for young people in Tower Hamlets.
The programme runs weekly and offers a range of activities, courses and training opportunities. These include:
- Workshops/Training sessions designed to boost self-esteem, challenge limiting beliefs, demonstrate that aspirations can extend far beyond the immediate local environment. These sessions focus on building confidence, creativity, and ambition through enterprise and innovation.
- Multi-sports sessions, games, arts and crafts
- Team-building games or expressive arts (rotating each week)
- CPD short courses or Duke of Edinburgh activities
- Mental health & resilience sessions
- Cooking/nutrition and healthy lifestyle
- Digital/media skills
- Drop-in mentoring with youth workers and peer leaders
- Small-group “Roadmap” check-ins, including progress reviews, goal-setting, and support with applications for training and employment
- Guest sessions delivered by Telos mentors or local leaders, providing both global and local role models
All activities are FREE, with no requirement for advance booking, prior skill level, or long-term commitment. Young people are welcome to attend on a flexible, drop-in basis.
